If you’re looking for a car, truck or SUV made in America with the most American-made parts, the top ten brands are Jeep, Honda and it’s luxury division Acura, Chevrolet and fellow GM brand GMC.
More than half the vehicles in the annual American-made survey by Cars.com are foreign brands, including top-rated Jeep, a division of Europebased Fiat-Chrysler.
Toyota and Ford come in within the top 15.
Simply, foreign automakers have invested hundreds of billions of dollars to build factories in the USA, closer to the people who buy them.
Most Americans want to buy a safe and fuel efficient vehicle that contributes to the US economy, but it’s not easy to determine by reading reviews where the vehicle is manufactured and how much American-made parts it includes.
So this is not a list of the top American-made brands, but, rather, a list of the specific models made in America with the most American-made parts, from car seat fabrics to tires.
That’s what the survey measures.
Here are the top 15 American-made vehicles, by model, according to the Cars.com survey:
1. Jeep Cherokee
Assembled in Belvidere, Ill.
The Jeep Cherokee, a small SUV, is built with U.S.-sourced engines and transmissions.
The Cherokee is the index’s top vehicle for the second year in a row. It also gives FCA (Fiat Chrysler America) the top slot for three years running, as the Jeep Wrangler topped the index in 2017.
2. Honda Odyssey
Assembled in Lincoln, Ala.
The top three Honda models – the Odyssey minivan and Ridgeline pickup truck – return for 2019, and also making the list is the all-new Passport SUV, essentially a two-row offshoot of the No. 7 Honda Pilot, which has three rows of seats.
3. Honda Ridgeline

9. GMC Canyon

Four vehicles from the 2018 index dropped off the top 10 for 2019. Ford’s Explorer SUV and F-150 pickup fell due to lower domestic content, although it is in the top 15, while the Ford Taurus sedan and Chevrolet Volt plug-in hatchback were disqualified because they are being discontinued.
This is the first year the published list is for the top 15 models instead of 10; among the group, GM has four cars, Toyota has two and Ford and FCA have one apiece. Honda/Acura dominates the list with six of the top ten.
