The National Park Service is banning single-use plastics such as water bottles and straws, cutlery and food containers, over the next decade. The ban applies to 480 million acres of national parks, wildlife refuges and other public lands administered by the US Dept. of the Interior, which includes NPS.

The National Park Service has added more than a dozen new sites across the USA into the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom Program. The new listings join nearly 700 other sites, programs, and facilities in the network which honor, preserve, and promote the history of resistance to enslavement through escape and flight.
