Movies on the cheap – AMC has changed it’s long-running Discount Tuesdays program to add Wednesdays. So now, it’s two days a week all summer to see new film releases for 50% off, not just one. The ticket deal also includes 50% off on popcorn and drinks.

The long-running “Discount Tuesdays” program is being renamed to “50% Off Tuesdays” and adding a new “50% Off Wednesdays” program, with half-price adult-evening ticket all day at participating theatres across the country.
The half-off tickets are available only to AMC Stubs members, which is FREE to join, so if you aren’t a member yet, this would be a good time to sign up.
In addition to half-price off tickets, AMC is also offering 50% off its Small Popcorn & Drink Combo on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, That means AMC Stubs members can enjoy a movie, popcorn, and a fountain drink all for half-price.
Premium format surcharges for IMAX and other special events, plus online ticketing fees still apply – but the base ticket price for eligible formats on Tuesdays and Wednesdays will reflect the 50% discount. Also, certain movies and holiday periods may be excluded.
The press release uses the phrase “holiday periods”, but does not make clear whether that is through Labor Day only, or extended through Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s and possibly beyond into 2026. Stay tuned.
“These changes are part of AMC’s continued effort to provide greater moviegoing value that is easy to understand and resonates with moviegoers,” Adam Aron, Chairman and CEO of AMC Theatres said in the press release
“Whether it is through our highly successful A-List subscription program, discounted Matinee pricing, or our new ‘50% Off Tuesdays and Wednesdays’ pricing program, AMC continues to offer bargain opportunities for those moviegoers who want to avail themselves of really superb deals.”
We all know that in-home streaming services have been cutting into movie theater revenue, so this is a smart way to boost movie attendance.
Unfortunately, discount deal comes with additional advertising. Also starting in July 2025, AMC is increasing the number of ads and trailers before the movie to as long as 30 minutes.
According to CNN Business, the extra revenue from the additional ads will help keep ticket prices “stable” – and hopefully allow discount deals to continue.
AMC also offers $3 tickets for family-friendly films during the AMC Sumer Movie Camp promotion.

Food and Drink Deals
The 50% discounts apply not just to tickets. According to AMC, the promotion also extends a 50% discount on its small popcorn and drink combo.
So the promotion will be available to the more than 36 million existing AMC Stubs members as well as new customers who sign up for the company’s free AMC Stubs Insider tier.
AMC is the largest movie exhibition company in the United States, the largest in Europe and the largest throughout the world with approximately 900 theatres and 10,000 screens globally.
See you at the movies!
