Utah Ski/Snowboard Resorts Opening Dates

Now that kids are back in school, it’s time to focus on getting in gear for the 2025/26 ski and snowboard season.

Here are the scheduled opening dates for more than a dozen Utah resorts, and some news of new lifts and terrain at some of them.

Utah markets itself as having “The Greatest Snow on Earth”, and nearly all of it is less than one hour from the Salt Lake City airport.  It’s one of my favorite places to ski, exactly because of the snow and the convenience.

Scheduled Opening Days 2025/26 Season

Alta Ski Area – November 21, 2025

  • The skier-only resort has straightened out its popular Supreme Lift to remove the sharp bend and reduce metal fatigue on the towers and cables it caused.

Beaver Mountain – to be announced

Brian Head Resort –  November 7, 2025

Brighton Resort – to be announced

Cherry Peak Resort – to be announced

Deer Valley Resort – December 1, 2025

  • Deer Valley – which remains a skier-only resort (no snowboarders) – adds new terrain and two new lifts this season – new East Village Express, a 10-passenger gondola, and the Pinyon Express, a 6-passenger bubble lift,

Eagle Point Resort – to be announced

Nordic Valley – to be announced

Park City Mountain – November 21, 2025

Powder Mountain – to be announced

  • Once again this year, the privately-owned area has blocked off all weekends in February for season passholders only.

Snowbasin Resort – to be announced

  • New this year is full RFID pass capability.  It means you no longer have to take your pass out of your jacket to be hand-scanned at a lift.  According to the resort, “This will greatly enhance our guest experience and reduce our lift wait times by up to 25%.”

Snowbird – to be announced

Solitude Mountain Resort – November 14, 2025

Sundance Mountain Resort – to be announced

  • The resort founded by legendary actor/producer/director Robert Redford opens the Electric Horseman Express, a new high-speed quad lift, and plans 165-acre terrain expansion Winter 2026–27 season.

Woodward Park City – to be announced

Ski Utah, the trade organization which represents and promotes all these Utah resorts, has a dedicated uphill travel/backcountry skiing information page.

Remember to always stay safe while skiing early season and venturing into the backcountry. An amazing resource for education and information is the Utah Avalanche Center.

See you on the slopes!
