Frontier Adds Friends Fly Free Deal to New Perks, $39 Fares

Frontier Airlines is making a blatant pitch to customers of rival Southwest Airlines who are unhappy about its new checked baggage fees and other changes.

Frontier is promoting its free perks, which include free carry-on, free seat selection and free flight changes and fares as low as $39, in a cheeky new ad campaign called “Your New Love”, which promotes “divorce your old airline deal”.

They also offering a Friends Fly Free companion ticket deal to members of their loyalty program.

The low-cost airline wants you to know that – according to the ad campaign –

“Some airlines have changed. They’ve raised fees, taken away perks, and made travel feel like a one-sided relationship. If your airline is treating you like an afterthought, maybe it’s time to file for divorce. Frontier is here for the rebound – offering a fresh start with an unbeatable deal.”

Frontier Airlines Divorce Southwest Deal

For all bookings for nonstop travel through Aug. 18, customers can receive the Economy Bundle for FREE, which includes a free carry-on bag, free seat selection, and free flight changes.

Plus, get a second FREE checked bag on flights May 28 through Aug. 18 with promo code FREEBAG.  Fares start as low as $39 each way.

Book before Monday, March 24 to get the freebies.  You must book on the Frontier app or online to get the deal.

With a deal this good, there are rules and restrictions –

  • Sale fares are valid for nonstop travel on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, for departures through Aug. 18, 2025.
  • 21-day advance purchase is required.
  • Blackout dates include May 27, 2025; Jul. 2, 5, 2025.
  • Not all markets are available for all dates of travel.
  • Round trip purchase is not required.
  • All travel rules will apply, including Frontier Airlines’ Contract of Carriage.

Friends Fly Free Deal

Frontier is taking it even further with a new Friends Fly Free promotion.

For a limited time, Discount Den members get a complimentary companion fare (traveling on the same itinerary, with taxes and fees starting at $18.90 each way).

This deal also must be booked by March 24, 2025.  It is valid for travel through May 21, 2025, on select days of the week, and is not available on all routes.

The free companion also receives one free carry-on bag, free advance seat assignment and free flight changes on the same itinerary as the paying passenger.

Book with promo code FLYFREE.

Make the Perks Permanent

“We’ve always had heart,” said Barry Biffle, CEO, Frontier Airlines in a press release received by ecoXplorer.

“Some airlines are walking away from what travelers love, but we’re running towards it. Think of this as the ultimate ‘divorce your old airline’ deal. If travelers show us the love, we’ll make these perks permanent.”

Frontier also is making a blatant pitch to flyers to keep the perks permanent and “write the next chapter of a traveler-airline love story,” by letting Frontier know you want the deal to continue.

“If travelers show us they love this deal, we might just make it permanent. The more people who jump on board, the better the chances of making this the new normal,” the CEO writes.

“At the end of the day, travelers just want to be valued,” said Biffle. “We’re bringing back the things people love about flying – free bags, free seat selection, and flexibility – without the extra fees. No games, just great value.”

Frontier Airlines has introduced sweeping changes to usher in ‘The New Frontier’ and grab customers from Southwest Airlines, which made headlines recently by ending its bag-fly-free policy

and also from low-cost competitors Spirit Airlines and Avelo Airlines.

Frontier’s enhancements include –

  • UpFront Plus seating, an upgraded seating option with extra leg and elbow room in the first two rows of the aircraft.
  • Customers in UpFront Plus enjoy a window or aisle seat with extra legroom and a guaranteed empty middle seat.
  • In the next few  months, the airline will introduce free, unlimited companion travel for its most loyal customers.
  • Later in  2025, Frontier will also begin offering First Class seating on every flight, reportedly at “affordable prices”.

The airline’s frequent flyer program, FRONTIER Miles, is an industry leader, allowing members to earn miles  based on dollars spent with a standard 10X multiplier: $1 = 10 miles, with multipliers increasing at every elite level up to 20X. Elite status is attainable at only 10,000 miles and offers perks such as priority boarding, seat selection and free bag(s) depending on status level.

Like the airline, FRONTIER Miles is also family friendly, offering easy family pooling of miles making it simple for families to enjoy rewards together.
