Jeep is offering its two most rugged off-road vehicles – Gladiator and Wrangler – in a color called Tuscadero, which Jeep describes as a “deep chromatic magenta”, but the rest of us would call Barbie Pink.
Jeep claims the new color is in response to customer demand. You’ll need a dose of Pepto Bismol – also pink – to swallow that.
Okay, maybe multiple requests from the Pink Jeep Tour company which does off-roading adventure tours in National Parks and other picturesque spots such as Sedona.
But I can’t imagine any serious off-roader wanting to pay an addition $895 for factory painting to own a hunky and capable off-road vehicle in Barbie Pink or Pepto Bismol pink.
A press release from Stellantis – the Italian owner of American brands Jeep, Chrysler and Dodge – describes Tuscadero as an “audacious, deep and intense chromatic magenta exterior paint color, made famous on the iconic Jeep Wrangler, is now available for first time on Jeep Gladiator, the world’s most off-road capable midsize truck.”
“Our passionate Jeep fans asked for this limited-run color on Gladiator. We heard them,” said Bill Peffer, head of Jeep brand in North America.
Stellantis claims that some 30,000 customers placed orders for Tuscadero when it debuted in 2021 on Wrangler, “making it an all-star in the lineup of vivid, limited-edition colors …..that add customization and appeal to Jeep brand vehicles from the factory.”
Tuscadero debuted for limited time orders last month on the new 2024 Jeep Wrangler and now on the 2024 Jeep Gladiator.
We’ll just have to believe them about customer demand, since none of us has the time to fact-check exactly how many Barbie Pink vehicles have been ordered by anybody not connected with the Pink Jeep Tours company, which has hundreds of pink Jeeps in various models, but all of them pink.
