Leap Day 2024 Deals and Discounts

Leap Day is just one day every four years, when February adds an extra day, Feb. 29 – and so do these Leap Day 2024 deals and discounts at national restaurant and retail chains.  Many require membership in the loyalty program, and most are for Leap Day only.

Leap Day factoids

  • Since it takes slightly more than 365 days for Earth to orbit the Sun, the additional day every four years ensures the calendar aligns with the Universe.
  • The actual time it takes the Earth to orbit the sun is slightly longer than 365 days – actually it’s 365.2421 days.
  • The difference may be insignificant to those who aren’t math nerds or astrophysicists, but over decades and centuries, that missing quarter of a day per year adds up, and without Leap Year the annual calendar would be thrown into chaos.
  • The Hebrew calendar of 12 months, which is based on the 28-day Lunar calendar, adds an entire month every few years to re-align with the seasons, which is why Jewish holidays such as Rosh Hashonah and Passover are never the same days two years in a row.
  • People born on a Feb. 29 are called “Leaplings”
  • Approximately 200,000 Leapling babies will be born in the USA on Leap Day 2024.
  • Couples who get married on Feb. 29 – as my own parents did – get a choice in non-Leap Years to celebrate on Feb. 28 or Mar. 1, or both.

Leap Day also let’s s celebrate by taking advantage of Leap Day deals and discounts.

Unless otherwise noted, these deals, discounts and freebies are for Feb. 29 only, while supplies last.

Some offers are available only to loyalty club members.  Since it’s free to join such programs, if you are not yet a member, this would be a good time to sign up, to get the Leap Day deal and more offers other times.

These deals, discounts and giveaways are for anybody, not limited to those with birthdays or anniversaries on Leap Day.
