Alfa Romeo is returning to the USA for the first time in decades, with a hot, high performance two-seater, the Alfa Romeo 4C
The roadster is being introduced to North America at the 2014 New York International Auto Show in April, and will be available in the US some time this summer.
Price has not been announced, but widely expected to be in the $65,000-$75,000 range, similar to the Porsche Cayman and Lotus Elise, with which it will be competing.
Also still to be announced is information on Alfa Romeo dealerships. Alfa Romeo is part of the Fiat-Chrysler family, but selling a high end sports car alongside itty-bitty Fiat’s won’t work, nor will selling it alongside Chrysler’s family minivans or rugged trucks.
The all-new Alfa Romeo 4C delivers an exotic mid-engine design inspired by the brand’s legendary racing history.
It’s shell is state-of-the-art carbon fiber, there’s a turbocharged engine influenced by Formula 1, plus advanced technology to deliver supercar-level driving performance.
For the Alfa Romeo brand, the all-new 4C represents the essential sportiness embedded in the brand’s DNA: Italian style, performance and technical excellence, for maximum driving pleasure in complete safety.
The Auto Show runs from April 18 – 27, 2014 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan. I’ll be at the Press Preview days April 16 & 17.
