Everybody loves a parade, and the one most of us love the most is the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, with its iconic giant helium-filled balloons and Santa himself ushering in the holiday season in the greatest city on the planet. The NYC holiday season would be unthinkable without it. It began in 1924, making 2024 it’s 100th year.

In the past, stores have been open on Thanksgiving Day, including some that opened at 6pm to give shoppers a head start on Black Friday deals and discounts.  These days, most stores are closed on Thanksgiving, but their online stores are open.
