Best New Cars Under $25,000: 2025 Nissan Kicks

Starting price of $21,830, loaded with high-tech safety features as standard, good looking, fuel efficient and fun to drive.  Even the top model, with all the bells and whistles, is under $30,000.

What’s not to love about the 2025 Nissan Kicks.

All-new and loaded with more features than ever, the 2025 Nissan Kicks delivers compelling value with impressive crossover utility – with less than a $500 increase over the previous generation model.

Fuel Efficient

Targeted 2025 fuel economy 28 City MPG / 35 Highway MPG / 31 Combined MPG for Kicks FWD models.

27 City MPG / 34 Highway MPG / 30 Combined MPG for Kicks AWD models.

Note – these are estimates based on Nissan internal testing results, subject to EPA confirmation.

Available with All-Wheel Drive

For the first time, every Kicks grade is available with the increased confidence of Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, for additional confidence and control in many weather conditions and road surfaces.

Kicks models with AWD add a “Snow” driving mode that adjusts the logic of the all-wheel-drive and vehicle dynamic control systems with tuning specifically intended for slippery surfaces.

That’s important to me as a skier, since winter driving means plowing through (pun intended) roads and parking lots where the pavement is covered by snow or slush or – worse – black ice.

Yaw control using targeted brake application further ensures that Kicks stays on the driver’s intended line when cornering in snow or ice.

As an added benefit when navigating rough roads or snow, Kicks boasts segment-leading ground clearance of 8.4 inches.

Also new-to-Kicks advanced technology includes available ProPILOT Assist for easier highway driving.

The 2025 Kicks also is covered by the convenience of the Nissan Maintenance Care program, which includes three pre-paid oil changes and free multi-point inspections for drivers.

It covers owners for two years or up to 24,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Loaded With Safety & Design Features

Sporting an unmistakably bold design, Kicks is well equipped at any price point, with the entry S grade offering standard Nissan Safety Shield® 360.,

Intelligent Cruise Control, all-LED exterior lighting and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth.

Stepping up to Kicks SV builds on that strong base with a 12.3-inch touchscreen featuring wireless Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay®, a wireless phone charging pad and 17-inch wheels.

Other standard convenience features include Easy-Fill Tire Alert, which makes topping up tire air pressure simpler; Rear Door Alert, which can notify the driver about potentially forgotten items; and Intelligent Driver Alertness, which can warn if the driver’s behavior suggests they may be fatigued.

The top-grade  SR adds class-exclusive Intelligent Around View Monitor, offering a virtual 360-degree, bird’s-eye camera view around the vehicle to simplify parking, avoiding curbs in the drive-through lane and other low-speed maneuvers.

I love the split screen capability, available on all trim models and not usually offered at this price point.

And I also love that it has the best-in-class available rear cargo space, large enough for my skis and boots, or your golf bag.

The most visually striking Kicks is SR grade, which features available 19-inch alloy wheels, headlights with a unique LED signature lamp, two-tone interior stitching and gloss black exterior mirrors.

It also adds a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, ProPILOT Assist and Intelligent Around View® Monitor8 for a 360-degree, bird’s-eye view around the vehicle.

Additional available features include a panoramic moonroof, heated front seats, Remote Engine Start, a Bose® 10-speaker audio system and a heated steering wheel.

Responsive, Efficient Powertrain

All Kicks grades employ a 2.0-liter inline-four engine rated for 141 horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque, coupled to the latest generation of Nissan’s Xtronic transmission.

The powertrain delivers confident acceleration, including for highway passing, thanks to the responsive transmission and the engine’s strong low- and mid-range torque.

2025 Nissan Kicks Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Prices

ModelMSRP
Kicks S$21,830
Kicks S AWD$23,330
Kicks SV$23,680
Kicks SV AWD$25,330
Kicks SR$26,180
Kicks SR AWD$27,680

Bottom line – absolutely recommended, especially as an affordable and safe entry-level vehicle, including for back-to-school young drivers and older drivers on fixed incomes who need a good looking, reliable and value-priced vehicle.
