Travel Technology: The newest thing in cruising is a bracelet made of recycled ocean plastic that literally opens doors.
This eco-chic wearable technology is loaded with high-tech smarts that serves at a room key, let’s you back on board after a shore excursion, pinpoints your location for delivery of an ice cream shake at poolside or your dinner table for a bottle of wine, pays for your plays in the casino and more..
Just wave your hand and it’s done. It’s a hands, wallet and worry-free way to cruise.
The new wearable technology is being introduced by Virgin Voyages on the debut of its yacht-like new Scarlet Lady cruise ship, which calls it “The Band”, not to be confused with a musical band.
Also, this new cruise line is not to be confused with others – this one is 18+ only. Like the wearable technology bracelets, this adults-only line is a new twist on cruising.
Sustainable and Sleek
Rope material is built entirely from BIONIC® yarn and contains six grams of marine and coastal plastic, equivalent to one-half of a plastic water bottle that washes ashore.
BIONIC Yarn is a material engineering firm committed to addressing plastic pollution in marine and coastal environments, which mates well with the Virgin Voyages commitment to sustainability.
The lightweight, relaxed eco-chic accessory is nautically inspired and can be taken home as a post-voyage keepsake.
