A number of national restaurant chains and even home improvement businesses are offering discounts and freebies over the Memorial Day weekend.
Some of the deals are only for military personnel or veterans, some are extended to Gold Star families and members of the National Guard, some are for the entire Memorial Day weekend. And, some deals are year-round, not just on Memorial Day.
Here’s our list, in alphabetical order, because that’s the only fair way.

Ace Hardware
Ace Hardware pledges to give away one million FREE 8″ x 12″ American flags on Saturday, May 25, 2019. A second flag is donated to a local VFW Post to be used mark the graves of those who once served.

A Story Before Bed
This offer is available year round for military parents. Members of one of the branches of the U.S. Armed Forces who are deploying or already deployed are eligible to sign up for free recordings from A Story Before Bed.
Blue Star Museums
More than 500 participating museums across the country offer FREE admission for active duty military families from National Armed Forces Day on May 18 to Labor Day on September 2, 2019.
Fogo de Chao
Military veterans and active duty personnel receive 50% off their meal on Memorial Day. Accompanying diners (up to 3) will receive 10% off their meals.
Present your military ID to get this offer. Fogo de Chao offers a 10% discount for military personnel at any time.
Food Lion
Military personnel receive 10% off purchases on Monday, May 27.
Ford
Ford offers a special discount on vehicles for the military and first responders.

Hooter’s
Active military and veterans eat FREE on Memorial Day, May 27/. Present your military ID. Call your local participating Hooter’s restaurant for details.
IHOP
Get a short stack of original pancakes for $1 from 7 am to 7 pm local time on Tuesday, May 21. This deal is open to everyone, regardless of military service.
The entire dollar goes to the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation.
IHOP hopes to raise $1 million to college scholarships for the children of servicemen and women who have passed in the line of duty.
The dine-in deal is limited to one short stack per person while supplies last.
LaMar’s Donuts
Active or retired service men or women receive a free donut and coffee on Monday, May 27.
Marie Callender’s
Receive a free slice of pie with the purchase of an entree on Monday, May 27. Certain desserts are excluded from this offer.
McCormick and Schmick’s
Military personnel, including Gold Star honorees, veterans and National Guard, get a FREE entree on Monday, May 27.
Ninety-Nine Restaurant and Pub
Present your proof of service on Monday May 27. Purchase a meal and receive a free entree from 9 Real Size Entrees for $9.99 menu.
Outback Steakhouse
Service men and women, police officers, and firefighters will receive 10% off their meals all day, every day of the year. You must show valid military ID.
Perkins Restaurant and Bakery
On any Monday from 11 am to 9 pm, enjoy a free slice of pie with purchase of an entree. Valid only at participating locations. Restrictions apply.
Red Lobster
Present your military ID on Mondays to receive 10% off your meal. Restrictions apply.
Rubio’s Coastal Grill
All military and veterans get o enjoy one free adult entree with the purchase of another adult entree, on Monday, May 27 only.

Sherwin-Williams
