Super Bowl coaches win trip to Croatia

The winning coach of today’s Super Bowl XLIX match between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks will win a free vacation in Croatia. Why Croatia?

The head coaches of both teams are of Croatian descent, and the country’s tourist board has offered a “trip back home” to the winner.

During a recent Super Bowl press conference it was revealed that both Bill Belichick, head coach of the New England Patriots, and Pete Carroll, head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, are of Croatian descent. Super Bowl XLIX will be the first Super Bowl match between two coaches of Croatian ancestry.

The winning coach will get the chance to explore the land of his ancestors as he and his family experiences the impressive history, stunning landscapes, rich cultural heritage, medieval architecture and cuisine of Croatia.

Here’s some of what the Super Bowl coaches – and you – can enjoy in Croatia –

The Fourth Anual Zagreb Coffee & Chocofest features tastings and workshops with top barristas and chocolatiers, along with art exhibits focused on coffee and chocolate.

The 189th Samobor Carnival is the Croatian version of Mardi Gras. The Fašnik Prince, the Sraka Samoborska Princess, Sudec and Štef Fiškal turn the city of Sambor into the Republic of Carnival, including a carnival parade that includes children.

Visit UNESCO heritage sites, including Dubrovnik, known as The Pearl of the Adriatic, which became a major Mediterranean power after the 13th century.

This late-medieval planned city in the south part of the east Adriatic Croatian coast with its historical core situated at the foot of Mount Srđ has preserved its historic character despite through the centuries, despite earthquakes and wars. It is a gem of  gothic, renaissance and baroque churches, monasteries and fountains.
