Buy your very own aerial drone: NYC’s photo equipment megastore B&H is now taking pre-orders for what’s officially called a quadcopter, armed with a high-resolution camera still and video camera.
The newest model of the DGI Phantom line is the Phantom 2 Vision+ with a 14-megapixel camera that shoots Adobe DNG RAW, and is capable of recording 1080p video at 30 frames per second, as well as 720p at 60 frames per second, for sharp and clean slow-motion footage. The cameras are gimbal-stabilized, so your aerial footage won’t look like a helmetcam on a bumpy road.
The drone’s computer includes “no fly” areas, so you can’t spy on a classified military site, or photo wheelies around the Washington Monument in D. C. or the Statue of Liberty in NYC.
And, you can hook the thing up to your smartphone or tablet, and operated it from there.
No prices yet, and it’s not clear from the manufacturer’s website whether the car charger cable is included or extra.
