WeatherBug — Winter traveling can be unpredictable across the country, so this is a great app to warn you about storms or other potentially dangerous driving conditions.  WeatherBug uses one of the largest networks of real-time weather sensors for forecasts.  You can get the latest weather on the website before you leave home, and sent it to your smartphone.  The WeatherBug app also is available for both Apple devices and Android devices.  GooglePlay.

Gas Buddy — Even though gas prices have lowered somewhat in recent weeks, this app will help you find the nearest gas station with the cheapest gas prices.

Hotel Tonight — Get a roof over your head tonight with discounts up to 70% off.  You can also get last minute hotel deals, with no change or cancellation fee, from Hotels.com.

GateGuru — This app does more than help you find your gate and track delays.  It also helps you locate Wi-Fi zones, restrooms, food courts and more.

EmergencyLink —  In the hopes you will never need it, this app lets you store and share emergency contacts and medical information including medications, important documents such as a scan of your passport or driver’s license, and other personal details in one, easily accessible place.  Available on iTunes only.
