The Audi brand is in the fast-lane, for sure. Audi models have been sweeping awards at recent auto shows.
Let’s start with the 2010 Detroit Auto Show, now underway.
The all-new 2011 Audi A8 luxury performance sedan took top honors in the prestigious EyesOn Design awards, which recognizes — you guessed it — design.
The A8 is a stunner, and one of its more interesting design features is a swooping C-shape of LED lights on the taillights, which will become a recognizable Audi signature.
The redesigned A8 arrives in showrooms this fall as a 2011 model.
And the Audi e-Tron, the plug-in electric version of the super hot R8 sportscar, won the top “best in show’ award from Auto Week magazine. The e-Tron was introduced as a concept car at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September 2009, and was so well received by us auto witers that Audi decided almost immediately to put it into production.
And in between the Frankfurt and Detroit auto shows, the Audi A3 TCI clean diesel was named ‘Green Car of the Year” by the Detroit News, after winning the same award at the LosAngeles Auto Show, in December 2009.
And Audi has been named the “most improved” carmaker in 2009 for customer loyalty, by R. L. Polk & Co.
That’s important too, since it’s one thing to make great cars, and another for customers to say their ownership or leasing experience is so positive that they’ll stick with the brand the next time it’s time to buy or lease.
Yes, Audi is in the fast lane.
