Barbie Themed Room at Hilton Panama

Barbie bedroom

Think pink. Hilton Panama has partnered with the Mattel toy company to create a Barbie themed room, along with a Barbie themed menu, spa treatments and activities, and Barbie lobby decorations.

Hotel chains and individual locations often offer something special to lure or entertain guests.

Over the years, I’ve written about hotel promotions to pay your age or the day’s reading on the thermometer as your room rate.

This is from 2016 and archived.

All links have been removed.

Hotels have pillow butlers to help you find the perfect size and density to help you sleep, even sea shell concierges to help you find the best place for collecting.

Hotels even let you take home their heavenly bedding and rain showers by merchandising them on online sales sites.

But this?  Don’t get me wrong. Barbie is an icon, a popular toy with by generations of children, including my own. But I don’t want to sleep in a PeptoBismol pink bedroom.

Maybe that’s why Hilton Panama has partnered the Barbie bedroom with an adjoining normal room for the parents or grandparents footing the bill.  And why the Barbie bedroom is available only until August 15.Barbie bedroom_ecoxplorer

Selfies with Barbie

Even if you don’t book the Barbie room, there’s no escaping her.

The press release I received says, “Guests will be welcomed to the hotel with an oversized display from the most famous doll in the world for the first of many photographs.”  In other words, an orgy of Barbie selfies.

The press release also advises that the Barbie bedroom “features exclusive Barbie items not found anywhere else and welcomes guests to a Barbie experience like no other with décor, bedding, movies, toys, dolls, special amenities, games, furniture, pillows, toiletries, costumes, a changing room and a runway where the fashion icon’s fans can model.”  More selfies.

“Since opening, Hilton Panama has made every effort to offer innovative products and services our guests will appreciate and this latest initiative reinforces our commitment,” said Andres Korngold, director of business development, Hilton Panama.

“We recognize the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between work and home and the Barbie Room is an excellent way to help our business, and frequent travelers, enjoy an unforgettable experience with their families.”

Business travelers? I’d like to see a corporate traveler explain Barbie-related charges to his or her company’s bean counters.

Okay, back to seriousness now.

It’s still a Hilton, with perks for HHonors loyalty program members. It’s free to join, and get perks including best price guarantee, free standard Wi-Fi, digital check-in and no booking fees when booked directly through Hilton.
