Baskin-Robbins Launches National Ice Cream Delivery

ice cream delivery serviceQuick, before it melts, get your favorite ice cream flavors delivered to your door in 22 cities from coast to coast.  The new ice cream delivery service is a partnership between Baskin-Robbins and delivery service DoorDash, launching to celebrate National Ice Cream Month in July.

More than 600 Baskin-Robbins locations in 22 cities will be supported by DoorDash delivery, including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Nashville, New York, Phoenix, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington, DC.

Order from the DoorDash website or app, which will get your ice cream take-out order from the nearest Baskin-Robbins location, and (hopefully) delivery it to you before it turns into what my kids used to call ice cream soup.

It’s just the latest of many food companies partnering with delivery companies to serve customers.  You might have heard about Amazon buying Whole Foods for $13.4 Billion in what is widely regarded as major change in both the supermarket and delivery business.

Back to ice cream.

A Baskin-Robbins spokesperson tells ecoXplorer that delivery charge is $2.99 to $5, depending on location, and that deliveries will be one hour or less, depending on location and the traffic in that location.

To celebrate the launch, DoorDash and Baskin-Robbins is delivering FREE Polar Pizza® Ice Cream Treats to children’s hospitals in select cities across the country on July 14. That’s same day that they are hosting its first-ever nationwide Polar Pizza in-store sampling, when you can get a FREE slice of  Mint Chocolate Chip Polar Pizza, and tickle your tastebuds with a double fudge brownie crust and Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream topped with OREO® cookie pieces, fudge and marshmallow topping.

The special free sampling is Noon – 5:00 p.m. on July 14, which is National Ice Dream Day when McDonalds, Cold Stone Creamery and others also offer free ice cream.

The children’s hospitals receiving the free Baskin-Robbins ice cream are all partners of the Joy in Childhood Foundation (formerly the Dunkin’ Donuts & Baskin-Robbins Community Foundation) whose mission is to bring joy to sick and hungry kids.

Participating hospitals include the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Rady Children’s Hospital (San Diego) and Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Since launching in 2006, the Joy in Childhood Foundation (formerly The Dunkin Donuts & Baskin-Robbins Community Foundation), has granted more than $14 million to hundreds of national and local charities across the country.
