Restaurants and other businesses want to thank our veterans and active military members on Veterans Day with FREE or discounted food or services on Nov. 11, 2016. Proof of military status is required for most offers, so be prepared to show ID verifying your service, or be in uniform.
As always, the Veterans Day freebies and deals don’t cover alcohol, gratuity or tax, and most restaurant offers are for eat-in only. Unless otherwise noted, these offers are valid only on Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11, 2016.
Also, for some restaurant chains, participating locations may vary. Check with your local restaurant for further details.
Here are more than 100 Veterans Day freebies and deals, compiled by the restaurant trade publication RestaurantNews.com:
54th Street – Free meal up to $12. Dine-in only.
Abuelo’s will donate $1 from every order of Chile con Queso to support Homes for Our Troops. Monday, November 7 through Friday, November 11, 2016.
Acapulco Restaurant and Cantina – From 11am – 10pm, all active and retired military personnel can select one complimentary item from a special Veterans Day menu featuring: 2-item combo, Carnitas, Grilled Chicken Fajitas, Grilled Steak Fajitas, Mahi Mahi, Enchiladas Suizas, Asada Burrito or Tacos de la Calle.
Applebee’s – Free meal. Choices include Butcher’s Meat and Potatoes, Oriental Chicken Salad, Fiesta Lime Chicken, Chicken Tenders Platter, Double Crunch Shrimp, Three-Cheese Chicken Penne or the American Standard All-In Burger. All current and former military personnel will also receive a $5 coupon that can be redeemed between November 12 and November 27, 2016.
Arooga’s Grille House & Sports Bar – All veterans and troops will receive one complimentary item from a fixed menu including some of Arooga’s favorites such as their famous Crab Pretzel, Buffalo Pretzel, Arooga’s Chopped Salad, Blackened Chicken Caesar Salad, Buffalo Chicken Flatbread, Wagyu Cheeseburger, Wagyu Grilled Dog, BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich, Grilled Cheese and Creamy Tomato Basil Soup, Spicy Italian Wrap or Sub, Original Boli, and, of course, their world famous boneless wings (10) tossed in any one of their more than 30 sauce creations.
Back Yard Burgers – Free Back Yard Classic Burger.
Bakers Square – Free breakfast. Choose from three Buttermilk Pancakes, three pieces of French Toast or a Belgian Waffle.
Bandana’s BBQ – Free meal up to a $10 value.
Bar Louie – November 11 – 13, 2016. Order any limited additions food item and Bar Louie will donate 10% of the sales to Operation Homefront. Up to a maximum $250 donation.
Baskin-Robbins is donating 11 cents from every ice cream scoop sold at Baskin-Robbins locations nationwide to the United Service Organizations (USO).
Ben’s Soft Pretzels – Free pretzel for former service members.
BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse – Free entree under $12.95.
Bob Evans – Free meal. Choice of select lunch and dinner menu items, in addition to the following popular breakfast entrees (available all day): Stack of Hotcakes, Fresh Baked Brioche French Toast, Country Biscuit Breakfast, Mini Sampler Breakfast, Farmboy Sandwich or Country Fried Steak. Bob Evans is also offering a 10 percent discount to all veterans and active duty military from November 12 through December 31, 2016, for dine-in and carryout purchases.
Bonanza Steakhouse – Free buffet.
Boston Market – All active duty or retired military personnel and their families can receive one free brownie or cookie with any purchase. No ID required.
Brann’s Steakhouse and Grille – Free 6 oz. Sizzling Sirloin with 2 sides.
Buffalo Wild Wings – Free small order of 10-12 traditional or boneless wings and a side of fries.
Calhoun’s Restaurant – Free meal.
California Pizza Kitchen – Complimentary entree from a special Veterans Day Menu. Pizza choices include: The Original BBQ Chicken, Hawaiian, Mushroom Pepperoni Sausage, Pepperoni, Five Cheese + Fresh Tomato and Untraditional Cheese. Salad choices include Thai Crunch, Chinese Chicken, The Original BBQ Chicken Chopped, Classic Caesar and Italian Chopped. Pasta selections include Garlic Cream Fettuccine with Chicken, Kung Pao Spaghetti with Chicken and Bolognese Spaghetti. Offer not valid in Guam, the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas, airport, stadium, and university locations.
Carrots Restaurants – Free slice of pie.
Charlie Brown’s Fresh Grill – Free lunch for veterans from a Veteran’s Day Appreciation Lunch Menu – 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Cheeseburger in Paradise –Free Veterans Burger with fries.
Chelo’s Hometown Bar & Grille – Free meal. Choices include Clam Cakes & Chowder, Grilled Chicken Salad, 1/3 lb. Cheese Burger, Turkey Burger, Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Roast Beef Sandwich 5 oz, Chicken Delight, Shepherd’s Pie, 5 Cheese Mac & Cheese or Fish & Chips.
Chevys Fresh Mex
From 11am – 10pm, all active and retired military personnel can select one complimentary item from a special Veterans Day menu featuring a 2-item combo: Carnitas Michoacan, Pollo Fresco en Adobo, Grilled Chicken Fajitas, Grilled Steak Fajitas, Chicken and Sour Cream Enchiladas, Street Taco Trio and Carne Asada Burrito.
Chicken Salad Chick – Veterans get a free Original Chick (a meal including a chicken salad scoop or sandwich, side, pickle and cookie), along with a drink (no purchase necessary).
Chickie’s & Pete’s – Free order of World Famous Crabfries. Also, 10% off every day to active and retired military service members.
Chili’s Grill & Bar – Free entree for veterans and active military personnel with a free entree. Choose from a special Veterans Day menu at participating locations nationwide. The special menu includes an Oldtimer with Cheese, Soup & Salad, Chicken Crispers and a Chipotle Chicken or Margherita Flatbread.
Chipotle Mexican Grill – Buy-one-get-one offer, valid on burritos, bowls, salads and taco orders from 3:00 p.m. to close, local time.
Cracker Barrel – Veterans receive a complimentary Double Chocolate Fudge Coca-Cola Cake dessert. Other guests can support Operation Homefront with a $5 donation that will be matched by the restaurant or with the purchase of a Cracker Barrel rocking chair.
Denny’s – Active, inactive and retired military personnel get a free Build Your Own Grand Slam, from 5 a.m. to noon.
Friendly’s – : Free breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Green Mill – Veterans and active-duty military eat free. Restrictions apply.
Golden Corral – Military Appreciation Day is November 14 this year. Active military and veterans get dinner on the house.
Hamburger Stand – Free hamburger, regular fries, and a small Pepsi for veterans and active duty presenting military ID or wearing their uniforms.
Hickory Tavern – 50% off food and non-alcoholic beverages for veterans and active duty military.
Hooters – All veterans and active duty military get a free entrée.
Hurricane Grill and Wings – Veterans and active-duty military with military ID or uniform will receive a complimentary entrée and non-alcoholic beverage from a select menu on Veterans Day, November 11.
IHOP – Free Red, White and Blue pancakes (glazed strawberries, blueberry compote and whipped cream) between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Krystal – Free breakfast Sausage Biscuit, dine-in or drive-through, at participating locations from opening until 11 am.
Little Caesars Pizza – Free $5 HOT-N-READY® Lunch Combo from 11:00a.m. to 2:00p.m, at participating stores nationwide.
Longhorn Steakhouse: Free appetizer or dessert – no purchase required – for anyone showing proof of service, and 10% off for guests who dine with the service member.
McCormick’s & Schmicks – free lunch or dinner entree from a special menu on November 11.
Mimi’s Cafe – With the purchase of any non-alcoholic beverage, veterans and active-duty military will choose a free breakfast, lunch, or dinner entrée from a special Veterans Day menu on November 11. On November 12 and 13, veterans and active duty pay only $5.99 for items on the special menu with the purchase any non-alcoholic beverage.
Olive Garden – Free entrée from a special menu, along with salad and breadsticks. Family members dining with the veteran or military member get 10% off their meals.
On the Border – Free “Create Your Own Combo” meal, which features soup or salad, tacos, tostadas, enchiladas, and other options at participating locations.
Outback Steakhouse – free Bloomin’ Onion with a choice of beverage on Nov. 11, plus.15% off the check for military personnel and their families November 12 – December 31.
Ponderosa Steakhouse and Bonanza Steakhouse – Free buffet to all active and retired military.
Red Lobster – Free appetizer or dessert November 10 and 11.
Red Robin – Free Double Taver Burger along with Endless Steak Fries on November 11.
Ruby Tuesday – Free appetizer November 11.
Shoney’s: Free All-American Burger for veterans and active duty military at participating restaurants while supplies last.
Sizzler – Free lunch at participating locations until 4 p.m. The meal includes choice of steak, chicken or shrimp entrée with beverage.
Texas Roadhouse – Free lunch. Choose from 10 entrées, and also receive a free iced tea, sweet tea, soft drink, or coffee.
TGI Fridays – Free lunch menu item up to $12 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. local time.
Twin Peaks – Free menu item from the Veterans Day Appreciation Menu.
Uno Pizzeria & Grill – Guests with valid military I.D. can get a free meal or personal pizza with the purchase of another free meal or personal pizza.
White Castle – Free Breakfast combo or Castle combo meal.
Wienerschnitzel – Complimentary Chili Dog, small fries and 20 oz. drink is redeemable at participating locations.
Village Inn – Free INN-credible V.I.B breakfast.
World of Beer – Vets and active duty members can sip on a free draught beer or $5 off their check. Fee draught beer deal available where legal.
